[ID: A comment taken from the Night Vale Patreon, posted by the show itself. It reads “oh I guess I should have mentioned that Carlos’s last name came directly from the never produced Night Vale tv pilot.” End ID]

A very rough pencil sketch with messy character silhouettes and notes on what to draw in panels.ALT
A digitally spliced pencil sketch with a finished panel layout and all the characters drawn in detail, also containing background elements.ALT
The finished digital painting. ID copied from the original post - A WTNV anniversary comic. The first panel is of Carlos, a thin brown man holding a desk clock and looking up at the night sky, which is filled with brilliant aqua blue light. Next is Cecil in his booth. He's a thin white man with dyed white hair. He looks with surprise at the window, where the same blue light can be seen. Papers fly off his desk and through the lower panels. There's a panel of Night Vale's skyline, with the radio tower standing high above the town. Finally, Cecil, Carlos, and Esteban as well as Aubergine are shown stargazing together and smiling. Esteban is a young brown child, and Aubergine is a fluffy white dog. Esteban is sitting on Carlos' shoulders, and he accidentally pulls Carlos' hair as he points upwards. Carlos laughs and holds onto Esteban's leg. Cecil is holding Aubergine, and he smiles down at Carlos as he helps steady Esteban. The purple and blue glow from the sky surrounds them.ALT

Always wanted to post the process for my wtnv 10th anniversary art, always forgot to do that, so it’s now or never. This art is exactly one year old now and it was my first serious attempt at digital and I love it.

happy anniversary to welcome to night vale, for the closeted queer kids who felt seen listening to the podcast through dollar store earbuds, the trans people who love hearing trans artists like mal blum and against me during the weather, and to every queer fan who loves this podcast for its unapologetic queerness, even during times when that kind of stuff was frowned upon.

themilanobitch:

wtnv fans: trying to figure out how night vale is going to defeat lubelle, if it will cause a rupture between cecil and carlos, how kevin and charles may fit into all this, where dana’s subplot will lead, how the glow cloud could come back, what’s up with the murals and cecil’s dad and the serpent god

“I once said that science is neat. I don’t know if I believe that anymore, because science is… really messy, it can be used for greatness, for love, for humanity and it can also be used to other, to murder and to mutilate.

We want science to outside of, higher than ourselves, but it has always just been us and so it’s up to us what to do with science.”

- Carlos Dave Robles, episode 230 - Carlos, Explained

screamingsilentlyintothevoid:

“Science is a tool, helpful and dangerous, but we will use it only for our fellow humans with the benefit of the least of us always in mind. This is the only true way to faceup to those of us who use this most beautiful of human inventions against humanity itself […].”
